Purple Stride at Hill Country Galleria
Local Performing Songwriter Joins Fight
against Pancreatic Cancer
Bee Cave, TX – 01 September, 2010
Popular Austin-based performing songwriter
Karen Chisholm and her band will bring their
musical magic to the stage at the Hill
Country Galleria, located at 12700 Hill
Country Blvd in Bee Cave, TX, at 8:00 a.m.,
on Saturday, September 25, 2010 to support
the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network during
Purple Stride Texas 2010, a day of fun
athletic events and entertainment to raise
funds to fight pancreatic cancer.
“As a cancer survivor and friend to those
who have lost loved ones to cancer, I want to
do my part to help fight this terrible
disease,” Chisholm said. “By joining us for
the day, you can help advance research,
support patients and create hope. LET'S ROCK
THIS THING!”
Karen Chisholm and her band are asking for
people to donate on their band
fundraising page

An emerging artist, Chisholm is quickly
rising above Austin’s sea of
singer-songwriting talent with original songs
that range from addictive pop to dark,
sensual blues to in-your-face rhythmic rock.
With a sweet, pure voice and lyrics that live
in your head, she brings life to the stage –
the good and the bad - full of the sound of
being human.
Chisholm has been through a lot in her young
life, and the color of that experience is in
every one of her songs. Raised by teenagers
in Michigan, she found her own way in the
world, landing in Texas as a young teen,
putting herself through college and
developing a career in music and graphic
arts. She has survived the suicide of friends
and battled thyroid cancer. It’s all there in
her songs – not the details, but the sound
and the feeling and the hard-earned wisdom.
She hopes to bring that wisdom and plenty of
musical talent to help the Pancreatic Cancer
Action Network at Purple Stride in September.
Chisholm will perform on the Galleria Stage
at 8:00 am. Registration to participate in
the event starts at 7:00. Festivities for
Purple Stride begin with a 1K Fun Run at
8a.m. and a 5K Walk and timed Fun Run at 8:15
a.m.
